Israel’s Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett, speaking at the dedication ceremony here of a Hechalutz training farm, declared that “the people of Israel will win by simply sitting tight.”
“The question is not what Israel will do, but what will the United Nations do?” he asked. “Nothing can dislodge Israel from the position it occupies in Jerusalem or take the city out of the hands of Israel,” he added.
The Minister expressed his appreciation of the role played by the United States at the U.N. General Assembly on the question of Jerusalem. “It was one of the few countries that had retained its sense of perspective during the discussions.”
