Transport Minister Shimon Peres said today that it is imperative for international organizations responsible for air travel safety to meet immediately to implement measures to ensure such safety.
Speaking to representatives of airline companies, Peres called for an all out war against hijackers: a war against terrorists by every nation, punishment of hijackers and preventing them from finding asylum in any country, and alertness at airports by airport authorities and airlines.
An eight-member peace delegation from Israel consisting of three Jews, three Arabs, a Druze and a Catholic nun are due to visit. Denmark and Sweden next month to discuss the Mideast conflict with Scandinavian political leaders. Kalmon Jaron, a Jerusalem professor, and Sister Aline of the Ecce Homo Monastery in Jerusalem will head the delegation.
