President Juan Peron this week-end received Mrs. Vera Weizmann, widow of Israel’s first President, in an audience which lasted half an hour. Mrs. Weizmann, who was accompanied by Israel Minister Arieh Kubovi and a representative of the local Jewish community, presented the President with a handsomely bound copy of Dr. Weizmann’s autobiography.
Gen. Per on expressed his conviction that Israel would contribute much to the development of the Near East, because of its “spirit and experience. ” As a sign of the Jews’ capabilities in the field of agriculture he pointed to the success of the Jewish agricultural colonies in Argentina. He also expressed the hope that Israel would succeed in gaining the confidence of the Arabs in the Near East and in achieving peace with them.
