The question of the persecution of the Jewish religion and Hebrew language in Soviet Russia was discussed today at the monthly meeting of the Board of Jewish Deputies, the union of Jewish communities in Great Britain, held here yesterday.
Special attention was given to the details concerning these conditions contained in a letter published recently in the Hebrew weekly, “Haolem” Sir Stuart Samuel, a member of the Board expressed his doubts as to the authenticity of these details.
It was stated during the course of the meeting that the Joint Foreign Committee, representing the Board and the Anglo-Jewish Association, has brought to the attention of the British Government the question of this persecution in Russia, and it is expected that the matter will be taken up with the Soviet delegation now in London for the Anglo-Jewish Russian Conference.
