Peru’s Interior Minister Luis Percovich Roca promised an investigation into the appearance of anti-Semitic literature in Peru, during a meeting with a leadership delegation of the Jewish community here, the World Jewish Congress reported today.
Percovich Roca held discussions with a delegation from the Asociacion Judia del Peru, the representative body of Peruvian Jewry and the WJC affiliate here, whom he received in his office. Comprising the delegation were the association’s president, Zurik Radzinsky; its co-president, Jaquir Dannon; and Yaacov Hasson, director of the organization’s human rights office.
The Jewish leaders brought with them detailed material documenting various publications of an anti-Semitic nature widely available in peru. In particular, they referred to the recent appearance of “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” the notorious anti-Semitic forgery which is being sold in weekly installments.
Following his discussions with the Jewish leaders, Percovich Roca expressed his determination to study the material conveyed to him by the delegation and to launch a thorough investigation. He also said he would undertake informing the highest political authorities of the republic of these facts.
