Pesach Binetzki, a well-known Yiddish poet, died here at the age of 54. Born in Byalistok, where he started publishing Yiddish verse in 1937, he spent the war years in areas in the USSR unoccupied by the Nazis, emigrated to Poland in 1946, and came to Israel in 1949.
