A petition with more than 1,700 signatures protesting the treatment of Jews in the Soviet Union was mailed to Anatoly F. Dobrynin, Soviet Ambassador to the United States, by Louis J. Fox, chairman of the Baltimore Committee for Soviet Jewry. This represented another package of petitions that the Committee has sent to Dobrynin bringing the total number of signatures from Baltimore to 13,071. The petition was accompanied by a letter signed by Fox which stated, in parts “As in the past, we are hopeful that you will once again transmit these views to your government so that one day the Jews of the Soviet Union will be able to live as Jews or to emigrate to where they can.”
