In a move to check racial terrorism in the city. Police Commissioner Gibbons today issued an order placing all responsibility for investigation and prosecution of crimes stemming from racial or religious intolerance in the hands of the Crime Prevention Bureau.
The Bureau is to work in close collaboration with the newly-appointed Commission on Human Relations which is now working on a program of activities to combat such crimes. The program is expected to include: 1. Efforts to enlist parents and teachers in projects designed to teach respect for different racial and religious groups and knowledge of their history. 2. Development of educational programs based on problems common to persons of every race and creed.
