A total allocation of $295,179 to seven Jewish educational agencies which are its beneficiaries was granted here by the board of directors of the Allied Jewish Appeal, UJA constituent in this city. The sum represents an increase of four percent over last year.
In a statement to the board of directors, Prof. A. Leo Levin, chairman of the education budget committee, pointed out that the committee was guided by “a number of principles which led to the strengthening of local Jewish education even though economies had been suggested in certain areas.” He added that the committee urged representatives of the educational agencies to exert “maximum efforts to secure additional income from sources other than AJA to help them meet their total requirements.”
