Allocations totalling $5,041,796 from the funds raised during the 1949 spring campaign of the Philadelphia Allied Jewish Appeal were announced today by Semuel H. Daroff, president, The Appeal’s board of directors unanimously approved the distribution of funds to 46 local, national and overseas beneficiary agencies, following the report submitted by Edward N. Polisher, chairman of the 1949 Allocations Committee for 1950 needs.
Included in the allocations which went to 46 member agencies serving Jewish needs throughout the world was a sum of $1,606,296 for local organizations serving Philadelphia needs; $3,164,000 for overseas work; and $271,500 for national agencies. The United Jewish Appeal received the largest appropriation. A total of $2,900,000 was granted to the U.J.A.
