A public exhibition of priceless objects and documents inaugurating the 60th anniversary of the Federation of Jewish Agencies opened here today. The exhibition traces the story of 4,000 years of charity and benevolence.
The Federation of Jewish Agencies is the Jewish community’s planning, financial and administrative body for a broad array of institutions and services to meet human needs and strengthen and promote Jewish welfare in Philadelphia and throughout the U. S,, in Israel and around the world. The exhibit shows the development and influence of charity through the ages by means of archaeological objects, historic mementos, books, pictures. sculpture, inscriptions, religious objects, medical instruments, and implements of welfare service and charitable fund-raising.
