A number of celebrations to commemorate Maimonides’ 800th birthday will start here on Saturday and will conclude on April 17, according to a decision adopted at a conference of representatives of Jewish organizations.

A special booklet containing the biography of Maimonides and an article on his contribution to world philosophy will be published here in connection with the celebrations.

Dropsie College has placed a large collection of Maimonides’ books on exhibit in connection with the celebration.

MAGAZINE ISSUES MAIMONIDES STAMP

The Jewish Forum, a literary monthly published in New York City, celebrating its seventeenth anniversary, has just issued a stamp commemorating the 800th anniversary of the birth of Maimonides. The stamp contains symbols picturing the essential features of the life of Maimonides.

DR. WALSH TO SPEAK AT MAIMONIDES FETE

Dr. James J. Walsh, well-known Catholic scholar and physician, will represent Catholic scholarship at the national gathering in celebration of the 800th anniversary of the birth of Moses Maimonides, medieval Jewish sage and scientist at the Hotel Pennsylvania on April 14, it was announced yesterday by the Maimonides Octocentennial Committee.

Dr. Walsh, who is on the faculties of Fordham University and Cathedral College, will speak on the Rambam as physician and will discuss his influence upon later Catholic scholastics and Christian religious thought.
