The Philadelphia Allied Jewish Appeal today announced that it had exceeded its goal of $6,000,000 for the United Jewish Appeal, more than tripling the amount raised here last year. The final total was $6,051,187.
The campaign here, which was under the leadership of Leonard B. Geis, was a community-wide effort by both Jews and Christians, with many of the latter participating in the drive. In all 74,443 persons contributed to the campaign. Increases were achieved in all brackets, it was pointed out by Kurt Peiser, executive secretary of the Allied Jewish Appeal.
