To mark Coronation Year Sir Albert Levy, Jewish philanthropist, has given £10,000 (about $50,000) to be divided equally among 20 charitable institutions. The funds will come from a benevolent fund created by him in 1929 to assist hospitals, alleviate distress and poverty and other charitable objects. Sir Albert has transferred to the fund securities worth $1,250,000.
