Philip Givens, president of the Canadian Zionist Federation, declared in a message hailing Israel’s 28th anniversary, that he was convinced that the conscience of the world had been numbed by the “traumatic events” of recent years and that justice is on the side of the Jews and Israel “and that it will ultimately prevail.” He said the ability to keep fighting in the face of tremendous odds had enabled “us to survive for 4000 years, while empires, dictatorships and kingdoms all around us have toppled.”
