Massive picketing surrounded the French Consulate here yesterday in protest against France’s Middle East policies. Julian Jablin, a local publicist speaking for the pickets, said the demonstration was Chicago’s “welcome” for President Georges Pompidou of France, who is in Washington on an official visit and will come to Chicago later this week. At the height of the three-hour demonstration as many as 2,000 pickets marched according to Mr. Jablin. He said that altogether some 5000 pickets participated.
