The famous picturesque Parisian auction rooms of Hotel Ventes, long a favorite location of small Jewish dealers, will hereafter be closed to Jews, the Commissariat on Jewish Affairs announced today.
Further pressure in the general “Aryanization” of Jewish businesses was demanded today by the French press, which declared that the prohibitive State transfer rights impeded the transfer of businesses. This, they claimed, stood in the way of a great number of Frenchmen anxious to acquire Jewish businesses. The French papers suggest that the procedure should be simplified by expropriation of the Jewish businesses for public reasons with a sale price imposed upon the owners.
