The remnants of the Jews of Czenstochow, joined by others from different towns, made a pilgrimage yesterday to the Jewish cemetery and two other sites where local Jews who perished in the Nazi holocaust are buried. About 50,000 Jews lived in that city before World War II but now only a handful remain. The mourners said they found the Jewish cemetery in a state of neglect but the other burial sites are well kept by the municipality. A monument at one of them records in Polish and Yiddish the names of Jewish resistance fighters buried there.
