A tribute to the Marquis of Reading was paid by the Pilgrims of the United States in a telegram sent to the dinner given by the Pilgrims in honor of Lord Reading.

The world is richer for a life so full of achievement and success in many fields,” the telegram from the society read.
The Earl of Birkenhead, Minister for India, spoke of Lord Reading’s career at the Bar as one as meteoric as had exet been known a career which was distinguished and embellished not merely by the arts of an advocate in dealing with matters of fact, but which never failed in competition with the greatest intelligent powers at the Bar. “I who claim to know the facts,” Lord Birkenbead declared, “make this high claim for ### distinguised guest, that his name will rank high in history.”
