Louis A. Pincus, chairman of the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization, said the Latin American Zionist and Jewish leadership last night has failed to grasp the meaning of changes now taking place on that continent and their repercussions for Jews.
Speaking during ceremonies marking the opening of the Latin American House here. Pincus said “The Latin American Jewish leadership is disappointing.” He proposed that Israelis of Latin American origin volunteer to return there on missions to help Jews until a reliable local leadership is established. Mrs. Geulah Havkin, chairman of the Association of Latin Americans in Israel, said that only 5,000 Jews arrived from that continent this year, a figure she called “meagre and disappointing in view of the possibilities.”
