The Pioneer Women, American women’s Labor Zionist group, transmitted $500,000 to the Working Women’s Council of Israel, its sister organization, since last October, it was reported here today at the three-day semi-annual conference of the Larger National Board. In addition, the organization also sent $50,000 to the Youth Aliyah movement in Israel.
Mrs. Chaya Surchin, president, in an evaluation of the organization’s activities in the past half year, reported it has undertaken to establish and maintain vocational training and educational centers in 88 frontier settlements. Mrs. Jeni Twersky, former member of Israel’s Parliament and a representative of the Working Women’s Council, called for greater "awareness" on the part of Pioneer Women members of Israel’s needs.
