To keep its members informed, the Pittsburgh Section of the National Council of Jewish Women organized a committee on civics and legislation, headed by Mrs. Jack Markel. This group conducts a course of study dealing with the history and mechanics of legislation.
The following delegates were elected to represent the Pittsburgh Zionist District at the annual convention in Atlantic City, June 30: Dr. M. B. Lichtenstein, Dr. S. Mallin, Oscar Robins, Walter Burke, I. A. Swiss and Nathan Savage.
The Jewish Big Brother Association and the Jewish Welfare Family Association have both been approved and commended by the Community Fund Visitation Committee. A report made by Attorney Edward O. Tabor and Oliver Evans, among others, pointed out the excellent work carried on by these newly-formed delinquency-prevention organizations. Of the 800 boys at local delinquency institutions, there are only four Jewish boys, although a “population proportion” would be about 40.
