Leon Falk Jr., president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, has been named first vice-president of the 1935 Community Fund which contributes financial support to the Federation and its fifteen member agencies.
The Jewish community in Johnstown, Pa., celebrated the rededication of the Rodef Shalom Congregation which has been modernized. Rabbi Samuel M. Cohen, executive director of the United Synagogue of America, and Rabbi Abram Granowitz of the local Temple Beth Zion were the principal speakers.
Three hundred members and friends of the Ladies’ Hospital Aid Society honored Mrs. Barnett Davis, its founder, on her seventieth birthday at the Y. M. and Y. M. H. A. Principal speakers were Judge Sarah Soffel, Mrs. Claude Reizenstein, Mrs. J. de S. Freund and Mrs. Julius Cohen.
