Representatives of the Catholic, Jewish and Protestant faiths discussed religion’s place in the post-war world last night at a symposium at Town Hall under the auspices of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. The Rev. John Elliott, secretary of the committee for religious organization, presided.
Dr. Israel Goldstein, representing the Jewish faith, said Jews have even a greater stake in a well-ordered world than most peoples, since an ill-ordered world would bear hardest on minority groups. Other speakers were the Rev. Dr. Henry Smith Leiper, foreign secretary of the Federal Council of Churches; Francis X. Stephens, Jr. president of the Catholic Big Brothers and Dr. John Foster Dulles, chairman of the Federal Council’s committee to study the bases of a just and durable peace.
