A campaign to aid the Zebulun Palestine Seafaring Soicety will be launched here by the Canadian Young Judaea, it was announced today by the Zionist Organization of America.
The purpose of the campaign, which will introduce this phase of Zionist activity in Canada for the first time, is to create a fund to promote the society’s educational and research work. With this fund, it is hoped the Zebulun organization will be enabled to extend the scope of its work in giving specialized training to Jewish naval officers and seamen with a view to stimulating and advancing the trade and commerce of Palestine.
The following statement was issued by A. M. Klein, president of Canadian Young Judaea, in connection with the campaign:
“Our present campaign opens a new chapter in the practical endeavors of our members for Palestine. The Zebulun Palestine Seafaring Society has for its objective the development of mercantile trade for the Homeland and it is hoped that these beginnings may be instrumental, in time, in the creation of a Jewish navy. No organization in America has yet sponsored this Society and we are proud to take the initiative in introducing it for the first time to Canadian Zionists.”
