Fifteen new settlements will be established this year, Dr. Raanan Weitz, head of the Jewish Agency’s settlement department, announced here today.
Dr. Weitz also reported that a vast expansion in Israel’s cultivated area is expected, including the addition of 90,000 dunams (22,500 acres) of irrigated fields, 14,000 dunams of citrus groves and 12,000 dunams of fruit plantations other than citrus.
