The seventieth birthday anniversary of Dr. Chaim Zhitlowsky, one of the most prominent figures in Jewish cultural life, will be celebrated throughout the United States by all Jewish groups, it was announced yesterday by the executive of a special committee established to arrange the celebration.
No date for the celebration in New York has been set yet. The announcement disclosed, however, that the New York Coliseum, which has a capacity of 10,000, has been rented for the occasion.
A special booklet in English and Yiddish giving the biography of Dr. Zhitloksky and his activities for the Jewish interests will be published by the committee arranging the celebration. Twenty thousand copies of these booklets will be distributed among Jewish youth organizations to acquaint the Jewish youth of America with Dr. Zhitlowsky’s personality.
