Those who will be in charge of Jewish Day at A Century of Progress on July 29 have learned many lessons from last year’s “Romance of a People” and have decided to place the stage, on which 5,000 actors are scheduled to appear, in the center of Soldier’s Field and not at one end, as they did last year. There will be no seats on the field itself. Only those on the concrete horseshoe will be used. Ticket prices this year will range from $1 to$2 instead of from $1.50 to $5.50, as last year, and every seat will be reserved.
Events scheduled in the celebration follow:
1. A concert and short program in the Court of States inside the fair grounds in the afternoon.
2. “The Pageant of Youth” in Soldiers’ Field at 7 P.M. This will be presented by 3,000 youths, with processions, gymnastics, drills and dances.
3. “Music of the Ages,” a twilight symphonic hour of Jewish music at 8 P.M. on Soldiers’ Field. There will be a symphony orchestra, choruses and soloists.
4. “The Epic of a Nation,” a dramatic spectacle at 9 P.M. on Soldiers’ Field.
David E. Hirsch, executive secretary of the Zionist Organization of Chicago, has taken a leave of absence from his duties with the Zionists to join the executive staff of the Jewish Day committee. Mr. Hirsch, chief assistant of Meyer W. Weisgal last year, is expected to act in the same capacity this year.
