Plans to cooperate with the Women’s Division of the United Jewish Appeal in a project to settle children of German-Jewish refugees in Palestine are now being followed through by Jewish women of the west Bronx as a result of a recent meeting at the Burnside Manor, 71 West Burnside avenue.
Appeals for the care of the young children of German Jewish parents were made by Mrs. Louis Lipsky and Mrs. Ida Slochower. Both pointed to palestine as the only haven of refuge.
A permanent organization was formed and officers were elected. They are: Mrs. Samuel Judenfreund, president; Mesdames Bercu Fischer, Martha Gross, Harry Projector, and Henry A. Schorr, associate chairman: Mrs. Simon G. Kramer, secretary, and Mrs. R. Beckerman, treasurer. These officials are to be augmented by an executive board including the Mmes. Arnold K. Isreeli, William Lipschitz, I. Maltin, and Samuel Kanarvogel. The initial meeting of the newly organized board will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at the home of Mrs. Kramer.
