Plans to cope with the growing refugee problem were discussed here today by representatives of the Manila, Hong Kong and Shanghai Jewish communities in the first Far-Eastern Jewish conference. Mr. Frieder, Manila delegate, was instructed to proceed to the United States to urge dispatching of an American relief official to take in hand 500 refugees who, because of the lack of local funds, are said to be in a serious plight. An additional 500 refugees are expected to arrive shortly. Police were searching today for ten refugees who disembarked from the Italian steamer Conte Rosse without visas or landing permits.
