A plaque honoring Emma Lazarus, noted American Jewish poetess whose tribute to America as the refuge of the oppressed is inscribed in part on the Statue of Liberty, was unveiled at Battery Park yesterday.
The plaque was presented by Ida Cook Farber, president of the Federation of Jewish Women’s Organizations, to N.Y. Park Commissioner Robert Moses who accepted it in behalf of New York City. The plaque is set in a stone which was a gift of the State of Israel to the Sisterhood of Spanish and Portuguese Synagogues.
