A play dealing with the story of the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto, written by Thomas Harlan, son of the Nazi-honored film director Veit Harlan, opened here to critical and audience praise.
The play is entitled “I, Myself, and No Angel.” Harlan has publicly repudiated his father’s role in directing the anti-Semitic “Jud Suess,” which was exploited by the Nazis, and has set himself the task of making amends for the sufferings of the Jews.
Meanwhile, it was established that the most successful American play ever to play I, postwar West Germany is “Diary of Anne Frank,” now in its third season. It has been performed by 102 theatres in West Germany, East Germany, Austria and Switzerland, all German-speaking lands.
