Poland and Germany entered into a tug-of-war today for the lion’s share of the million marks in cash and property left by the 16,000 Polish Jews deported from the Reich last October. The money problem was understood to have taken the stage immediately as the conversations were resumed between the Polish delegation and the representatives of the Reich Foreign Office’s legal and economic departments. Poland demanded the greater share of the fortune belonging to its citizens, while Germany offered the counter claim that the capital involved was built up in the Reich.

The negotiations were expected also to cover the capital of the additional 4,000 Polish Jews in the Reich who ultimately will be denationalized. The denationalizations are proceeding at the rate of several hundred monthly.
