A monument is being planned at the site of the former Nazi murder camp in Chelmno in memory of the hundreds of thousands of Jews who were murdered there during World War II, it was reported today by the Folkstimme, Warsaw Yiddish newspaper.
The victims included Jews from Lodz and other towns in Nazi-held Poland and from a number of European countries. The cultural department of the regional National Council in Posen has started a contest for designs for the projected monument which will be open until February 28, 1962.
