THE POLISH GOVERNMENT’S ATTITUDE ON THE PALESTINE QUESTION WAS UNDERSTOOD TODAY TO HAVE BEEN EXPLAINED TO DR. CHAIM WEIZMANN, PRESIDENT OF THE JEWISH AGENCY FOR PALESTINE, BY POLISH FOREIGN MINISTER JOSEF BECK IN AN INTERVIEW HERE.
IN THE COURSE OF A LENGTHY CONVERSATION, WHICH TOOK PLACE YESTERDAY, MR. BECK IS SAID TO HAVE POINTED OUT THAT WHEN THE FRONTIERS ARE BEING DRAWN UP, POLAND WILL DO ITS UTMOST TO ASSURE A TERRITORY AS LARGE AS POSSIBLE FOR THE JEWS.
HIS GOVERNMENT, HOWEVER, WILL NOT CONSIDER DEMANDS VOICED IN CERTAIN JEWISH QUARTERS, MR. BECK SAID, THAT THE JEWS BE GIVEN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY WITH REJECTION OF PARTITION AS THE ALTERNATIVE.
THE POLISH DIPLOMAT IS UNDERSTOOD TO HAVE STRESSED THE VIEW THAT POLAND HAS COMMON POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC INTERESTS WITH ENGLAND AND IS AVERSE TO PREVENTING ENGLAND FROM FINDING A PROPER SOLUTION TO THE PALESTINE PROBLEM.
DR. WEIZMANN DISCUSSED WITH THE BRITISH DELEGATION TO THE LEAGUE SESSIONS THE JEWISH AGENCY’S STAND ON THE PALESTINE PROBLEM AND INTERVIEWED RICHARD SANDLER OF SWEDEN, WHO IS EXPECTED TO BE NAMED TO THE COUNCIL’S SUBCOMMITTEE WHICH IS TO EXAMINE THE MANDATES COMMISSION REPORT.
