Jerusalem Police on Thursday arrested seven Kach activists suspected of having incited the mourners at Wednesday’s funeral of Rabbi Meir Kahane.
The suspects were detained at Kahane’s yeshiva Harayon Hayehudi, where the funeral procession started. Among the suspects was Yekutiel Ben-Yaacov Zozovsky, who is suspected of having openly called for violence in his speech when he urged listeners to “give the floor to comrade submachine gun and comrade knife.”
Police Inspector-General Yaacov Terner said that police would not permit such expressions, and would not ignore the violence which was committed Wednesday by Kach activists and others.
Police planned to ban residents of the territories from entering Jerusalem for Friday prayers, “to maintain law and order.”
