Polish Catholics erected more than 50 crosses near the Auschwitz death camp. The crosses, which were reportedly put up by a Catholic workers group as part of a campaign, are standing near a 22-foot crucifix set up years ago to commemorate a visit by Pope John Paul II. Jewish groups have been seeking to remove all Christian symbols from areas surrounding the camp.
