Jewish street peddlers are threatened with reduction of their incomes by a bill which the city council has under consideration. Six hundred Jewish families would be affected.

At a conference held at City Hall representatives of the non-Jewish merchants openly declared their desire to be rid of the competition offered by Jewish street traders.

As a result of this parley it was decided to set aside an area for peddlers, the borders of which they must not #ross.
