Diplomatic circles have expressed surprise at a letter of congratulation sent to Porunca Vremii, a violently anti-Semitic daily, by M.M. Arciszewsky, Polish Minister to Rumania.
After receiving the paper’s first anniversary issue, devoted mainly to inflammatory articles against the Jews, the minister wrote expressing admiration for “the splendid special number” and its “rich documentary and informative material.”
The Porunca Vremii (Call of Time) enjoys one of the largest circulations of any Rumanian newspaper. It is distributed free to university students, school teachers, priests and government officials. Subscribers obtain large reductions on trips to Germany.
