Four editors of Polish anti-Semitic newspapers were sentenced by the court of Appeals here yesterday to one day in jail in the libel suit brought by Deputy Isaac Gruenbaum, former president of the Club of Jewish Deputies.
Mr. Waslewski of the “Gazeta Warszawska,” Messrs. Rzetelski and Wierszbinski of the “Rzeczpospolita” and Mr. Czeblewski of the “Rozwoj” were charged with libel for reports published in their newspapers in which the assertion was made that Deputy Gruenbaum engaged in anti-Polish propaganda during a trip to Paris and London in 1921.
The editors were brought to trial in the district court on January 5,1925, where they were acquitted. The Court of Appeals sentenced the editors to one day in jail and payment of the court expenses. The attorneys for the editors declared that an appeal will be made to the Supreme Court.
