Polish Government Asked to Expedite Release of Jewish Exiles in Russia

Several lists containing hundreds of names of Polish Jews exiled in Soviet Russia have been handed to the Polish Government here so that their release may be expedited under terms of the recent Russo-Polish pact, it was disclosed today by Dr. Ignacy Schwartzbart.

One list received by Dr. Schwartzbart from Dr. Isaac Gruenbaum and Dr. Emil Schmorak, representing the Jewish Agency in Palestine and the Polish Jews in Palestine, contained the names of 343 Polish Jewish leaders still confined in Russia. Among these are former Deputy Joshua Gottlieb and former Senator Michael Ringel, both of whom had previously been reported dead.

Another list received from Chief Rabbi Herzog of Palestine and Rabbi Kahan formerly of Warsaw, contains the names of hundreds of rabbis exiled by the Soviets, and now awaiting release.
