A “Black Book,” listing Nazi atrocities against Poles and Jews in occupied Poland, was published here today by the Polish Government, following yesterday’s conference of nine European governments-in-exile at which it was decided to exact swift post-war retribution against Germany and her satellites for acts of violence committed against the civilian population in the occupied territories.
The book, entitled “New Order in Poland,” is divided into nine parts and contains 46 chapters dealing with massacres, tortures and expulsions of Poles and Jews by the Nazis. One chapter in this 586-page volume is devoted exclusively to the Nazi terror against the Jew in Poland and to mistreatment in the ghettos. The material in the book is based on eye witness testimony authenticated by photographs showing Nazi savagery.
Simultaneously the Polish government announced today that it was preparing special lists of Germans responsible for crimes and persecution against Poles in Polish territories, and asked all those with information to cooperate. The Ministry of Home Affairs, in charge of the preparation of the lists, requests all Poles abroad possessing precise information of such German crimes to submit it to the nearest Polish diplomatic mission or consular offices to be forwarded. All specific evidence, such as dates, names and exact description of the crime, is desired.
