The Chief Rabbinate disclosed today that the Polish Government had declared “superfluous” the presence in Poland of ritual slaughterers sent there from Israel to prepare the shipments of meat purchased in Poland by Israel under the Polish-Israeli trade agreement. The slaughterers have been told to leave Poland. Polish-Israeli trade came to a virtual standstill after the Arab-Israeli war last June when Warsaw followed Moscow’s lead and severed relations with Israel and Polish beef shipments to Israel have dwindled.
