Jewish leaders proclaimed a day of prayer throughout Poland today as the Sejm prepared to discuss a committee-approved bill for complete prohibition of shechita (kosher slaughtering) already under partial ban. “Tehilim,” the prayer invoking the aid of God in time of distress, was recited in synagogues throughout the country.
