The Soviet Union and Poland have signed an agreement permitting persons of Polish-Jewish nationality, who were Polish citizens on Sept. 17, 1939, to abandon their Russian citizenship and return to Poland, while persons of Russian, Ukrainian, White Russian, Ruthenian and Lithunian nationality are granted the right to abandon Polish citizenship and return to Russia, the Moscow radio said today, confirming earlier published reports.
The agreement was signed in Moscow, and covers the families of those affected, said the broadcast, which was reported by the Federal Communications Commissions. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Soviet Union by Deputy Vice Commissar of Foreign Affairs Andrei Vishinsky and for Poland by Zygmund Modzelewski, Polish Ambassador to Russia.
