Extremely worried by fear of disastrous consequences if the new economic law is adopted, provincial Jewish communities, rabbinical associations and the Zionist Central Committee yesterday joined in a campaign to prevent the promulgation of the law, which spells economic ruin for Polish Jewry.
The same groups also issued a call for special meetings to be held protesting against the proposal. Thirty provincial presidents and vice-presidents of Jewish commercial associations were summoned by the Central Jewish Commercial Association to Warsaw for a hurried conference.
