THE CENTRAL COMMITTEE OF POLISH TRADES UNION, REPRESENTING MORE THAN A HALF MILLION WORKERS, ADOPTED A RESOLUTION TODAY STRONGLY CONDEMNING ANTI-JEWISH DISORDERS IN UNIVERSITIES AND DEMANDING THAT THE GOVERNMENT TAKE IMMEDIATE MEASURES FOR THEIR SUPPRESSION.

THE DEMAND CAME AFTER NINE JEWISH STUDENTS, TWO OF THEM GIRLS, WERE INJURED YESTERDAY IN DISTURBANCES AT WARSAW UNIVERSITY’S COMMERCIAL COLLEGE AND LAW SCHOOL. THE ATTACKS FOLLOWED CLASHES BETWEEN NATIONALIST AND SOCIALIST STUDENTS. POLICE ARRESTED TWELVE SOCIALISTS, AMONG THEM SEVERAL JEWS.

JEWISH STUDENTS, MEANWHILE, SCORED THEIR FIRST VICTORY IN THE FIGHT AGAINST “GHETTO” BENCHES WHEN THE WAWELBERG TECHNICAL COLLEGE, FACED WITH A DEMAND FOR RETURN OF THE BUILDING TO THE HEIRS OF THE JEWISH FOUNDERS, REVOKED AN ORDER BARRING ALL REFUSING TO OCCUPY SEGREGATED BENCHES. STUDENTS HENCEFORTH WILL BE PERMITTED TO STAND IN PROTEST AGAINST SEGREGATION.
