Prof. Stanislaw Stronski, Propaganda Minister of the Polish Government, today sent a letter to the Council of Polish Jews denying that the Polish radio commentator on the BBC arbitrarily added an anti-Jewish sentence to his report on Gen. Sikorski’s address to the Polish National Council concerning his deliberations in the United States.
The Council of Polish Jews has charged that the Polish broadcaster in reporting the policy of “equal rights – equal obligations” for Jews in a restored Poland added: “We must remind our listeners that no other attitude except the one given above would be appreciated by the American and British democracies.”
Stronski’s letter points out that the sentence in controversy was used by Sikorski himself, as follows: “I have to point out that the American community, like the British, would never understand any other conception of this difficult problem.” Stroneki declares that the Council’s protest was based on an erroneous interpretation without the Council previously attempting to secure further elucidation on the matter.
