What would virtually have brought about the closing of many of the existing Yiddish schools in Poland was averted by an order of the Polish Ministry of Religious Education.
According to a previous ordinance, all teachers who were not graduates of recoguized teachers’ colleges were to submit to state examinations. The final date set for these examinations is dug shortly. Many of the teachers of the Yiddish elementary schools would not have been in a position to pass the examinations if they would be held on the appointed date. The examinations would pertain mainly to a knowledge of the Polish language, Polish history, etc.
The Ministry, in an ordinance issued yesterday, postponed indefinitely the date for these examinations.
