Misbehavior of a Polish army offer at a railway station would have resulted fatally, were it not for the interference of the “Kolo”, the club of Jewish Sejm members.
The Jewish deputy, Waclaw Wislicki, happened to be at the railway station when the army officer elbowed his way through the crowds shouting, “Get out of the way, Jews”. The deputy censured him immediately. The next morning the officer’s seconds brought his challenge to a duel to Deputy Wislicki.
On the advice of the “Kolo”, Deputy Wislicki rejected the challenge.
